…Says anybody supporting State Police, Regional Govt. is an enemy of Nigeria’
A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has urged President Bola Tinubu to be mindful of Kano State politics.

Galadima, who stated this in an interview on a television programme on Monday, said, “The Federal Government and President Bola Tinubu need to be cautious with Kano politics. It will destroy his presidency.”
The NNPP chieftain berated federal support for one group over another in Kano’s politics, saying that chieftaincy titles should not be influenced by federal authorities. He emphasised the resilience and determination of Kano’s people.
Galadima further expressed a sense of hopelessness about seeing the Nigeria he envisioned for future generations, attributing his political shifts to principles rather than personal gain.
Speaking on the past elections, he recounted how the NNPP defeated its opponents despite manipulations and forceful tactics used against them. He said in 2011 and again in 2023, the NNPP overcame these challenges to emerge victorious.
Galadima criticised the Judiciary’s handling of electoral disputes, highlighting instances of alleged bias and manipulation.
He said the governor of Kano should assert his authority, even against Police advice, in order to maintain his credibility, and affirmed that despite police opposition, the Emir participated in the festivities, demonstrating local determination.
Galadima called for the preservation of democracy, despite its imperfections, and warned against the creation of state police, which he believes would lead to the country’s disintegration.
The elder statesman expressed dismay over the pressing issue of self-inflicted political turmoil in Nigeria, saying Nigerians are the architects of the political problems troubling the country.
Buba Galadima also frowned at the call for State Police and regional government in the country.
Recall that there has been a call for the creation of State Police and regional system of government, a move that could potentially redefine Nigeria’s political landscape.
However, Galadima, in an interview with Arise News on Monday night, asserted that those calling for state police and regional government are unaware of the history and reason it was abolished.
According to him, those speaking about the issue are enemies of Nigeria because they want to divide the country and kill democracy.
He said, “Anywhere I go in Nigeria, the Constitution says I am free to be a resident, do business, move about and free to own property, is that what is happening all over the country? It is because we don’t have strong leaders and that is why people are talking about State Police and regional government.
“Do they know the history of why the state police was abolished? If they know, anyone who talks about State Police is an enemy of Nigeria, because they want to divide the country and kill democracy with it. Just imagine that Fubara owes a State Police, and Wike attempts to go into Rivers”.
“Those people in the National Assembly should be careful not to play with fire. They want to disintegrate the country by playing with issues such as regionalism. Even in the current Constitution, there are many people looking for State. If there is a State Police military will return”, he warned.
